Dressed in Plaid

We tried coming up with catchy names for this dou, but nothing really seemed to fit.  "The Plaid Yodelers" was my personal favorite, but the girls weren't really into it.  Go figure.

These gals sounded beautiful when they sang, and they definately have the talent and charm to pull off wearing plaid.

Blue-eyed Gal

I'm gearing up for senior portraits right now.  If you or someone you know is interested in being one of my senior reps, e-mail me for all of the details.  It will be fun.  Promise

Isn't this gal jsut beautiful?  I love her eyes.  She was completely at ease in front of the camera, and even gave us pointers on what is and isn't cool to say....something I'll need to know for those upcoming senior shots.  For example.  Sic is a good thing, so is lame.  You can't say groovy or dorky to a teen without getting the universal eye-roll.  At least paint splatters are back in style. So are belts on top of your shirt and converse sneakers (can I call them sneakers?).   I'm going to pull out my trunk of old high school clothes so I can look awesomingly rockin for my seniors!

What great little mom this 3 year old was.  She loved her brother, and was so helpful while their mom tried, and tried to get hm to sleep.  She was also fun to photograph with those amazingly huge eyes.

Worldwide Photo Walk

I love the Worldwide Photo Walk!!  There's no pressure to make sure anyone is smiling.  I can take pictures of trash, artwork, people, anything that makes me smile.  This will be my entry for the competition this year.  I was shooting in front of Sunrise Cyclery when the owner came out  Along with running the shop, he's an artist.  He shared some of his work with us.  I absolutely love his Kokopelli.
This shot is from Jeff's enormous sewing machine.  He uses it to sew his eco-friendly seats from used bike tires.  He fills the seats with pop bottles, shipping padding, really anything that is clean and fits.  The chairs are remarkably comfy.  To see images of his seats, check out my webpage at: http://www.milestonephotographyutah.com/Other

It's confession time.  I live in Utah and I don't ski.  I've lived here 18 years and have never been, not once.  There are days in January that I look out the window and wonder what it is like.  I have images of myself speeding downward while  I race down a hill, but have yet to try.  That being said, I make up for my lack of winter sports prowess from May thru October. My blog is a victim of beautiful weather.   I blame my negligence for updating it on the weather. I keep meaning to sit down at the computer and update, but I keep getting sucked outside to enjoy this perfect summer we're having.  After all, who wants to sit at a computer when you could be outside.  That's what winter is for.   I'll grab a cup of hot cocoa, wrap my "it's not a snuggie, it's a warm wrap" around me and fill my blog with photos of fresh spring flowers, summer days, autumn leaves then.

Brothers

This was a great shoot, complete with a Dallas Cowboys fan and a cowboy.  I always encourage clients of all ages to bring something with them that tells the viewer who they are.

Travis and Tawny

I had the chance to be a second photographer for the amazingly talented Heather from AYA Photography (http://www.ayaphotography.com/). When we arrived in Morgan, Utah, it was a balmy 44 and drizzling rain.  Not quite ideal weather for an outdoor wedding.  The guys wanted to head out for some golf course shots, which were a blast!!!  I felt so bad for the girls in their dresses, but they were troopers.  The wedding was beautiful, and I was able to capture some great moments.  I've posted a lot more than I typically do on my Milestone Fanpage on Facebook.  Be sure to check it out!

Beautiful

Isn't this little gal just beautiful?  I love those freckles, they are so cute!  A baptism is so special for these kids, and I was thrilled to be part of capturing her big day.

Military Family

I shot this family just a few days before they said goodbye to their dad/husband as he headed back to Irag to serve our nation.  I can't tell you how much respect and admiration I have for these soldiers and their families who sacrifice their time together to help keep our country strong.  Mom will be in good hands with these beautiful-eyed boys looking after her.

Au Naturale

One of the best things about photography is meeting new people and getting a feel for their personality.  After speaking to this family, I knew we needed a very outdoor feel.  Their friends call their son the "Cabbage Patch Kid."  He's been out hiking and fishing with his parents since birth.  I went out and scouted a few spots, and while walking betwwen locations, the dad spotted this amazing little patch of wildflowers.  I love this shot with the purple behind him.

Be Well/Joyride Triathlon

I promise, for all of you non-sports fans, that this is the end of sports for a little while.  Be amazed that I slipped a non-cycling shot into this one!  These are from the very wet and cold Be Well/Joyride Triathlon held on Saturday.  The perk of being the photographer was that, unlike the other volunteers, I got to sit in a car, and periodically go inside to warm up.  If that wasn't incentive to bring a camera, I don't know what was!  My next post will return to the typical non-sweating baby.  Thanks for indulging me!

Bear Lake Classic Bike Race

The day was perfect for a bike race.  I was totally feeding off of the energy of the cyclists.  My event contact instructed me to focus on the cat 1-2 guys, which was awesome. I love these shots!!  My biggest regret was the inability to split myself and cover more locations around the lake.  The intense looks on their faces as they sprinted towards the finsh line made the whole day worthwhile.  It made me want to run out and purchase a 400mm lens..(.maybe when I make it big as a sports photographer:)

Just as the cat 3 guys were crossing the finish line, my card freaked out on me.  I've never experienced a card crashing, it was a terrible feeling.  I'd been been shooting for over 3 hours and had visions of losing all of the data.  I finished to shoot with a regular speed card, cursing it's turtle-like tendancies. After the tears and the anxiety (ok, i'm not a teary person, but there was anxiety), I ran to Logan Computers in the Cache Valley Mall.  It took awhile, but they salvaged my images, I have no idea what went wrong, and haven't tried the card since.  Logan Computers earns a big shout out and thanks.  They got me right in on a Saturday evening and saved my first real attempt at sports photography.  You can view all of the images at: http://milestonephotography.smugmug.com/Other

Joyride Bikes

If I had unlimited time to pursue all of my dreams, cycling would fill a huge chunk of it!  I love being out on the open road, either alone with my thoughts, or with friends.  If you haven't hopped on a bike in awhile, I would highly recommend it.  And while I'm recommending something, run down to Joyride Bikes or visit http://www.joyridebikes.com/, quite possibly the world's greatest bike shop!

I've been working on my sport's photography lately. I had the chance to shoot the Bear Lake Classic Road Race up in beautiful Garden City yesterday.  I'm dying to sort images and get some posted, but until I do, I realized I had some older and newer shots that  I took for practice.  They are of some great guys who ride with Joyride, and were willing to humour me with a few laps and a game of cat-and-mouse.
